Healing Grief: Letters to the Afterlife

I have been guided to discuss the difficult topic that is grief. When we lose someone our world spins into chaos as we attempt wrap our minds around what has occurred. Each person grieves in their own way and deals with loss differently. It’s important to let yourself grieve properly and to know that it is okay (and completely normal) to need help and actively seek it out be it professional or leaning on loved ones. I highly recommend and urge you strongly to reach out and get help especially if you find your grief begins to make it difficult to function in your daily life and/or you have thoughts of hurting yourself, someone else, or thoughts of suicide.

Buddha said “The problem is you think you have time.” Many times loved ones are taken from us too soon in a sudden way. Even if a loved one falls ill and suffers a long sickness I’ve always felt there is never enough time with those we love and care about. Sometimes when we lose someone we end up feeling like we didn’t get the chance to say something to them. This can be especially true if the relationship with the person we lost was not in a good place at the time of their passing. Either way we are left without closure which can make our grief that much harder to heal.

One thing I found to be a valuable experience is an exercise I call “Letters to the Afterlife.” In this exercise you will pour every emotion out and allow yourself to purge every thought and feeling regarding the death of someone you knew. You will write down all of the things you never got to say to them, confessions you never got to make, anger/hurt/resentment you need to express, or to just let them know how much you love them and miss them. This is also a chance to say good bye. I will outline the steps below. The important thing about this exercise is to allow yourself to express everything without censoring anything. Don’t feel like you have to be positive, be as honest as you can, say what you mean and be blunt and direct. Understand that no one else will ever get to read anything you express (as the letter will be burned and destroyed) so let it all out.

Letters to the Afterlife

  1. Write a letter to the deceased person. As stated above do not hold anything back. No one will get a chance to read the letter. Make sure you let out anything that bothers you, upsets you, saddens you, etc. When you are writing imagine that you have one last chance to say what you need to say and write as if you are talking directly to the person.
  2. Take the letter and fold it (as if you are mailing it), or roll it up like a scroll and tie a ribbon around it.
  3. Take the letter some place it can be safely burned (preferably outside). A fire pit or charcoal grill are both good places.
  4. Light the fire and as it heats up close your eyes and take a deep breath to calm and center yourself.
  5. Imagine that the person is standing across from you. Put as much detail into this image as you can. You want to feel as if when you open your eyes you will see them standing right in front of you. It is very important to strongly visualize them so you can connect strongly to their spirit.
  6. With eyes still closed, ask the Angels/Guides/Spirits (whatever feels right to you) to help you by to carrying your message to this person.
  7. Open your eyes, take the letter and put it into the fire. As the letter burns visualize the smoke carrying your message upward to the Angels/guides/spirits who will take it and deliver it to the intended. Make sure you visualize yourself letting go of the emotions and releasing them. You can say to yourself (either out loud or in your mind) “I let go of any negative energy and emotions that are not serving me connected to ________________ (name of the person). I have said all I needed to say and I am at peace.”

As you continue work through your healing process things can surface that you may not have thought of when completing the initial exercise that you feel should have been included. You can repeat the exercise if needed. Do not rehash what you said in the in the initial letter repeat the exercise only if you have new/different things that you feel you need the deceased to hear directly in order for you to heal. If things that you already said in the initial exercise still bother I recommend journaling, repeating the mantra at the end of #7 every time you feel bothered by the thoughts, and meditation. If you find you feel overwhelmed by the thoughts/emotions please seek out help, you can begin by talking to a loved one but I strongly recommend professional help especially if you find talking with a loved one does not seem to help you.

If you have any questions or if you find this exercise helpful please sent me an email via our contact form, or leave a comment below! I am happy to help but also love to hear what works for you as it may help others in their own journeys through a difficult time.

The Cleansing side of the Moon

6/27/2016

One of the most popular and effective cleansing techniques for healers in Moon cleansing. The energies of the moon have long been associated with healing and the sacred feminine.  This process is effective for all stones and purposes, but for simplicity sake I am focusing on the healing benefits.

The full moon is best for this process, although strong waxing moons are effective as well. Allowing the cool and calm energies of the moon balance out your healing crystals will keep your healing tools free of external energy and charged for healing work. The process is very simple, and with all things, simple is the best way.
Picture
Step one, Place crystals outdoors on the ground in moonlight during the full moon.
Step Two, Leave overnight
Step Three, Collect cleansed and charged crystals in morning.
It is that easy.  Of course I may have oversimplified the process a bit.  We will go over some of the common questions and concerns.

First off, it really does not matter if it is cloudy, the process seems to work just as well. Also placing the crystals directly onto the ground has the best results, however if you put them in a container and do not have them in direct contact with the ground, benefits are still gained.  Placing the Crystals outdoors works best, however, you can keep them indoors and gain the moon’s cleaning powers and mystic energies. If indoors, place when the moonlight will reach them and opening the windows is preferred but not necessary.
Try to use the night of the full moon, or the day just prior for best results for healing items. Again you can use really any moonlit night, but the full or almost full but still waxing moon is best.  The new moon or a waning moon is less effective, however sometimes this is better than nothing.  The picture next to this paragraph should show the differences in the moons. The period from the first Quarter to Full is stronger due to the growing presence of the moon.

Thank you NASA for the graphic.

As to the frequency of cleansing, well, let your intuition be your guide, but if you consistently cleanse at the full moon, you will cleanse once every 28 days.  Cleansing with this frequency not only keeps your tools cleansed and charged, but also assist you in getting into the rhythm of the Lunar world. This world is a great place to tap into for assistance in the healing arts.

Thank you for reading, We hope you find the above of assistance in your Journey. Please feel free to comment below your experiences using these techniques. Wander well.

Summer cleansing

We use several different techniques when we are crafting items for our customers to cleanse them of all external energies.  Even items we sell as charged, we will cleanse and ground them first, prior to adding the energies.
We are going to discuss one method we use for our really metaphysically significant items we forge. We go through all these steps to ensure the purest energies for our customers for items of great power.  We may use less steps for more mundane crafted items. We always suggest our customers cleanse and attune to the items upon receipt.  Unless they are receiving the item ‘Charged’ then they can simply tune the items to their aura upon receipt.
All our significantly crafted metaphysical items received the following steps upon completion of the item.  We have different rituals that we perform while crafting the items which we will discuss elsewhere.  This discussion focuses after crafting to the receipt of the Item by the owner.  For items that people bring in to have cleansed or charged that we have not crafted, we take the time to fully understand the item prior to performing the processes upon it.
Picture
We first take the item crafted and prepare it for the process. If the materials are water soluble we sprinkle our blessed water upon it.  If the materials are not water soluable we start by bathing them in natural spring water we personally collect in the mountains of central PA.  This spring water collected from an area that has old growth forest which is rare in the State. The pure and natural water remains unprocessed by modern procedures.  We thrice bless the water using three separate traditions.  The item is bathed in or sprinkled with the water and moves onto the next step.

We take the damp item and set it out in the sun. We continue to use ritualistic methods to enhance the process.  The evaporation of the water greatly assists in the removal of external energies on the stones.  Depending on the eventual use or purpose of the item, we will use the Morning sun, the Noon day sun or the Setting sun for this step. For very select purposes we will use the moon’s light. The time for this step varies greatly on the stones and conditions. We will then remove to item without touching it to the next step.
Picture
Picture
We then move the item back inside to the Crystal ‘Bath’ treatment. We perform certain cleansing rites while we place the item into the ‘Bath’.  The bath is a sacred container that we have filled with numerous sizes and types of crystals.  We cover the item and complete the rituals. We will let the item ‘soak’ for various lengths of time till it achieves its purest potential level. Upon reaching this state, we move onto the next step, again without touching the item.
We move the item to a room under the earth, well shielded from everyday life. We nestle the item into an area that is surrounded by Pink Himalayan salt and bathe it in the glow of our blessed salt lamp.  This exposure to the negative ions help to awaken and charge the natural properties of the item’s materials. This allows the item to remain cleansed but also to be charged to it’s maximum potential. For items that we are sending out cleansed and pure, this is where we stop and meet the item up with it’s owner.

Picture
If someone requests an item to be charged, we then take it out and perform the requisite prayers and rituals to fulfill the customers needs. This is usually done for our Reiki practitioners or our other energy healers. We are also happy to charge items of a protective nature. We will generally not charge items of a harmful or offensive nature. However all things are possible. Like stated before, not all our items go through each step, which is all dependent upon needs of the customer and needs of the item.

Contact us if you have any questions about the topics discussed above.  If you would like to have an item of power crafted, let us know, and we may be able to fulfill that need.

Once upon a midsummer's dream

The pace continues unabated as many divergent activities all start to come together. I am talking shop talk here.  The application ( and fee) are in for the township zoning commission, for our variance to open up the Wellness center / rock shop/ supply store.

We slowly are completing the inside of the store, getting ready for the ok to go full tilt and get ourselves ready to open. We are balancing the projects  between usefulness and utility.  When we get the go ahead, we can hope to complete the projects in a timely manner.

We have been putting in the herb gardens, flower gardens and even a few veggies. We will have a great  crop of home grown herbs for the use of our visitors next year.  This year is going well, and our little plantlings are using the abundant rain to grow their roots deep and strong.  We hope to get the landscaping well on it's way so our visitors can relax along winding paths of abundant flowers.  Again, this year will be sparce, but we are growing for the future.

We are crafting many useful items for spiritual growth.  Things we do not construct ourselves we have been working with other crafts people who specialize in their arts. We have been gathering together a collection of items we hope will delight, amaze, and most of all assist in the spiritual journeys. We hope to have many of those specialists visit and be available to the public from time to time to discuss their wares and/or abilities.

If there is something or someone you really wish to see at the shop feel free to contact us so we can include that for you.

We are hoping for an August soft open of the shop, with us refining our center throughout the fall and having a great big grand opening in the spring!  We hope to see you there.
